Site Remediation

A longstanding practice aligned with our philosophy of responsible development is our focus on developing former brownfields and re-developing previously developed sites because it reduces pressure on un-developed land. Prior to 2022, we have developed 23 projects on former brownfields* totaling almost 15 million square feet.

Hillwood offers advanced solutions tailored to meet the specific operational goals of tenants. 

To ensure we continue to meet the highest building standards, Hillwood regularly benchmarks our practice through the pursuit of Green Building certifications.

Leed Volume

In late 2022, we achieved a significant milestone in the development of our LEED Volume program with the submission and approval of our prototype. The prototype was approved with the opportunity for properties to be certified up to LEED Gold certification level, with credits for optimized energy performance, indoor water use reduction, and low-emitting materials, among others. Certifying properties under the LEED Volume program will help us achieve greater consistency across our properties and reduce the time and costs spent on pursuing certifications.

In addition to providing economic benefits through our development projects, we also take active steps to support our development projects and to support our neighbors through charitable contributions and volunteer efforts.
