Beginning with the patriarch of the Perot family, Ross Perot Sr., and continuing with our Chairman, Ross Perot Jr., who is a former U.S. Air Force fighter jet pilot, our company has long demonstrated a steadfast commitment to supporting military veterans and their families. As an employer, Hillwood recruits, hires, and trains individuals who have served in various military branches. At Hillwood, sustainability is at the core of our development approach. We design and build with long-term environmental performance in mind, integrating energy-efficient features and responsible land management to reduce our impact. Through thoughtful site selection - including brownfield remediation - and adherence to green building standards, we create spaces that support both tenant sustainability goals and community well-being.

Hillwood is committed to green building certifications for all new industrial developments worldwide. These certifications ensure resource-efficient, resilient design that minimizes environmental impact while enhancing occupant health and experience — meeting market standards in every region where we operate.

Renewable Energy: In the Pursuit of Solar Power▼

We actively seek opportunities for on-site solar installations and partnerships to sell solar energy back to the grid, generating additional revenue, enhancing local energy security, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting the transition to renewable energy.

Germany launched its solar program in 2024 and is rapidly scaling its project pipeline. The team completed the first installation in September and completed three total projects by year end.

Case Study: Transforming Schwelm - Germany▼

Our new two-building development in Schwelm, Germany—totaling 933,230 square feet—is located on a former industrial site with over 100 years of history. Previously home to a manufacturing plant for adhesive mailing labels, the site was classified as a brownfield and has since been remediated. Soil testing revealed low-level contamination from volatile halogenated hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, and petroleum-based compounds. As the pollutants were not highly concentrated, the most effective solution was to cap the soil to prevent rainwater infiltration and protect the groundwater. The development now features an energy-efficient office building and a logistics facility, both overlooking the valley and surrounding greenery.
